Doesn’t the National Guard provide the soldiers with necessities such as body wash and toothpaste?

My boyfriend asked me to send him some body wash so I was just wondering. Also, what is the best way to send these to him as I’m new to this whole thing. He joined a month ago at Ft. Leonard Wood.
What is a px?
Oh my God… I was planning on sending him Irish spring and a Softsoap body wash. He wanted me to buy Old Spice Body wash. Should I?
Or should I buy unscented bars?

    no. like everyone else they have to buy their own. they do, however, have a px. and mind you soldiers use soap not “body wash.” and no sweet smelly stuff or basic may not be fun.

    He’s in Basic. They don’t get access to a whole lot of variety of soaps.

    I suggest you not send him body wash. He will SEVERELY regret it. Fragrant soaps tend to attract bugs. Most recruits use Scentless Soap.

    Plus, the Army doesn’t provide soap or toothpaste. You have to buy it on your own.

    He also isn’t in the National Guard yet. He is currently in the Active Army. Once he finishes his BCT and AIT he will be released from the Army and allowed into the National Guard.

    Edit:

    PX = Post Exchange

    It’s like a Walmart, except it’s cheaper, no sales tax, and has better quality stuff.

    Like at a big PX you can buy a pair of jeans for $30 that would cost $70 at the mall. I didn’t find this out till I found the exact jeans I bought for $70 the next day at the PX for $30, lol.

    In a word, no. He has to provide his own toiletries and they probably don’t carry the body wash he likes in the PX. His parents should have the mailing address for his unit.

    The recruit has to buy new shoes etc then it comes out of his first paycheck.
    An advance in case the recruit has to buy new shoes etc then it comes out of his first paycheck.

    Nope. They’re required to buy their own. I can’t think of a reason why he could’nt just buy the stuff for himself at the troop P.X. They’re little mini-stores set up specifically so that recruits can get items such as this.
