Do Body Wash and Soap Free Cleansers get you clean?

This may seem like a stupid question, but is body wash the same as bar soap? I’ve been having dry skin, so I decided to switch to a moisturizer body wash for the shower. In addition, I do have sensitive skin, so I was looking at Dove Sensitive Skin Body Wash which is soap free. Are these just intended to be used with soap, or am I getting just as clean with the Dove body wash as I would with bar soap?
