Are shower gel and body wash the same thing?

Sometimes I use the body wash with the sponge and it smells great. But I received a gift: Romance by RL cologne, aftershave and shower gel. I’ve never used shower gel before.

    pretty much
    shower gel is usually thicker than regular soap tho

    Pretty much. Sometimes I use body wash for bubble bath.
